We are passionate about infusing color and happiness into every aspect of life through our love for golf.
Founded by Shohei Nomura, we are a small but dedicated team that combines years of experience with a deep appreciation for the artistry behind golf club manufacturing. After relocating from Tokyo to the rural town of Ichikawa, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, we devoted countless hours to learning from master artisans. Immersed in the rich traditions of Japanese craftsmanship, we refined the skills that have shaped golf manufacturing for generations.
Inspired by the phrase “二の次” (ni no tsugi)—which emphasizes the importance of prioritizing what truly matters—we believe that the seemingly unimportant aspects of life are, in fact, the most significant. For us, golf is more than just a game; it represents joy, connection, and creativity, enriching our lives in profound ways.
Our Brands
-
Makino マキノ MA3
Makino is our most personal brand—its name is a blend of “Makita,” a nod to a lifelong love of DIY, and “No” from Nomura.
Dedicated to handcrafted, one-off pieces that emphasize creativity and craftsmanship, Makino is centered on artisanal putters and irons made for low-handicap players. While there are whispers of a “Makino Sports” from the 1980s, today’s Makino is entirely our own.
Blending precision and artistry are values we’ve always held close in our approach to clubmaking.
-
NNRG ニューエナジーゴルフ
NNRG is a brand committed to providing high-quality clubs designed for everyday golfers, from beginners to experienced players.
With a focus on accessibility, NNRG offers performance-driven equipment manufactured by Kyoei Golf Industry—combining trusted OEM expertise with the spirit of traditional craftsmanship.
The brand’s mission is to deliver superior quality to a wider audience while staying true to the principles of precision and integrity rooted in Japan’s craft heritage.
-
Modal Workshop
Modal Workshop began as a passion project, fueled by our admiration for vintage clubs, particularly the Mizuno Pro series.
It gave us the chance to breathe new life into these classic designs while paying homage to their legacy.
Since then, we’ve developed a range of special finishes, including the two-tone copper, acid copper, and indigo copper—each adding a distinct artistic flair that transforms these timeless pieces into original works of art.
-
Fujimoto Golf
From 2016 to 2023, we were responsible for developing and managing the in-house brand for Fujimoto Gikoh, one of our mentors and a distinguished golf manufacturer in Ichikawa town.
Focused purely on international sales, we handled all aspects of creative direction, including club designs and the revival of their traditional 72 hour annealing technique.
This experience not only refined our manufacturing skills but also deepened our appreciation for the craftsmanship of one of the region’s oldest producers.
-
U-Golf Custom (Archived)
U-Golf offered golfers the chance to customize their clubs, ensuring each piece meets individual preferences and performance needs. Customers could enjoy full personalization, including specific stamping and lettering on the clubs, allowing them to create truly unique equipment that reflected their identity and style.
Additionally, U-Golf was a project aimed at uniting various manufacturers in the Ichikawa and Himeji areas, fostering collaboration within the local craftsmanship community. Unfortunately, U-Golf has been archived due to production capacity constraints.

Fig 9 Headcovers (Archived)
Continuing our commitment to promoting handcrafted goods from Himeji—a city renowned for both its steel manufacturing and world famous leather tanners—we sourced one-of-a-kind leathers to create bespoke putter headcovers.
A distinctive feature of Himeji’s leather craftsmanship is its use of traditional tanning methods, which preserve the leather’s natural characteristics while enhancing its durability and beauty.
This endeavor was branded as Fig 9; however, it has now been archived due to production capacity constraints.
